The implementation on the field started on the June 10,1999. With the approval of the Canadian embassy during the summer we made break which was lasting from July 12,1999. until August 23,1999. The program was completed on the November 12,1999.
By analyzing the information and having them compared to the requested results from the contract the following was concluded: It was planned to get 35 municipalities visited, and 46 were visited (31% more than it was planned). At least 10 presentations per a week were planned (320 presentations in 16 weeks) and at least 15 listeners per a presentation (10.000 listeners were planned), but the result of 438 presentations (37%more that it was planned) and 26.904 listeners (269% more than it was planned) was achieved.
The above-mentioned numbers show the seriousness and professionalism of the people who implemented the Program. And not only that, but the wish to get as many people as possible in the presentations or get them informed of the mine awareness by the media.
The advertising material proved itself as useful. It was first time that the phone numbers of certain institutions where the new mines can be reported were printed on it.
The special attention was attracted by the poster, which was estimated as one of the better, which were done for the mine awareness purposes.
Very important suggestion is related to the bigger number of the visits to the villages that are located in the vicinity of former front lines. The most endangered population lives and works there. I would give an example for this conclusion. In pour conversation (not in the presentation) that took place in one house yard in Petrovo in Doboj, we found out a very valuable information from the local man who lives there. He drew on the map the minefield, which was 10 kilometers long.

These minefields have not been recorded in MAC database. This experience was one of the motives for the idea to form the Mine awareness team consisted of two members which would integrate two very important activities.
The above mentioned survey and mine awareness team would be visiting the areas that are located in the vicinity of the former front lines. The statistics say that the most endangered category, men - farmers, live there. Such activities should be increased in the spring and summer, because of the works on the field. The equipment that was used in this program would be more than useful for this team.
